For 40 years, the Youth Programs at the internationally celebrated Steps on Broadway have nurtured young dancers, ages 18 months to 18 years. Whether seeking a fun dance experience or comprehensive pre-professional training, there is a program suited for everyone. Classes include ballet, tap, jazz, theater dance, hip hop, contemporary, modern, pointe and more. Taught by a faculty of internationally-recognized concert, ballet, Broadway and celebrated guest artists, every student is encouraged to discover their artistic uniqueness, deepen their passion for the art form, while growing as dancers and individuals.
The First Steps Program welcomes children, ages 18 months – 5 years, to the exciting world of dance and music. Classes in this program are designed to introduce creative movement exercises that foster body coordination, rhythmic awareness, and a path to explore their own imagination.
The Kids and Teens Program at Steps is a dance enrichment program for students wishing to explore a variety of dance forms. In a joyful and creative environment, students move in new ways and find inspiration and connection through dance. Classes offered in ballet, hip hop, jazz, theater dance, and tap.
There are no prerequisite classes or minimum class requirements; however, students are placed according to both age and ability.
The Pre-Professional Youth Program at Steps is a selective training conservatory for dedicated dancers pursuing a professional career in dance. The program’s rigorous and diverse curriculum provides the building blocks for preparing successful and adaptable 21st century dancers. Students are nurtured and encouraged to take artistic risks and be bold about trying new things, while supporting and celebrating one another.
Performance opportunities are offered throughout the year.
The First Steps Summer Program introduces children, ages 2-5, to a magical summer of movement and music. Classes in each session are designed as an introduction to creative movement exercises that promote imagination, body coordination and rhythmic awareness. Boys classes are offered.
Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop and Broadway! Adventures in Dance classes offer your child an opportunity to explore various dance styles. Boys classes are offered.
The Summer Intensives offer comprehensive training with Steps on Broadway’s core faculty members and rotating guest teachers. The challenging and diverse curriculum consists of classes offered in ballet, contemporary, hip hop, Horton-based modern, jazz, theater dance, with studio showings to conclude each session. Special guest artists, workshops on health and wellness, and Q&A’s with industry professionals round out each week.

Meet the Director Pamela Levy holds an M.A. in Dance Education/ABT Ballet Pedagogy from NYU, and a B.F.A. in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts/Rutgers. She is a member of ABT’s National Training Curriculum’s Artistic Board of Examiners. She served on the faculties of ABT’s JKO School Children’s Division, Mason Gross, Marymount, Princeton, Rider, and Teachers College at Columbia University. She served as director of the Princeton Ballet School, ABT Certified School at Mason Gross Extension Division, and Mark Morris Student Company II. She danced with Murray Louis and Nikolais Dance, and the Metropolitan Opera Ballet. |
