Park Shore Country Day Camp to Offer New Cooking and Science Programs This Summer

Park Shore Country Day Camp to Offer New Cooking and Science Programs This Summer

With its eyes set on summer, Park Shore Country Day Camp in Dix Hills is already planning an array of new programs and offerings. The summer will kick off with its first ever Cooking With Stars program led by former producer for The Today Show, Chef Paula Gottlieb Herman. The Suffolk County day camp will also add new programs to the Extreme STEAM Science Kids Camp.

At the Culinary College, kids in grades 1-5 will explore the delicious art of cooking with recipes inspired by Greek, French, Italian, and Mexican cuisine. They will also learn about food hygiene, plating techniques, and harvesting in Park Shore's very own vegetable and herb garden.

Extreme STEAM Science Kids (ESSK) Camp is housed in the three-story, state-of-the-art Science Center. ESSK Design Innovation is led by Anurag Purwar, Ph.D, professor of machine design and robotics at Stony Brook University, grades 6-9 will explore robotics and mechanical and electrical engineering utilizing Dr. Purwar's innovative SnappyXO robot kit and MotionGen app.

In order to accomodate these programs, Park Shore plans to extend its transportation services across South Shore and Nassau.

Since 1959, Park Shore has been perfecting the day camp formula, and its success may lie in, as Owner Bob Budah puts it, its “tremendous flexibility.” Campers can pair morning educational and skills-focused programs, such as Cooking With Stars and Extreme STEAM Science Kids, with age-appropriate day camps in the afternoon. Kids in grades 5 to 8 may also enroll in the travel camp program, which offers day and overnight adventures throughout Long Island and beyond. Specialty programs, such as Sports Track and the Performing Arts program, are also available.

“We’ve been servicing the Long Island Community for 60 years,” says Budah, referring to the three generations of Budah family who have operated Park Shore. “We are the leaders in day camp.”

This year, Park Shore will commence on Friday, June 28 and end on August 23. Park Shore also offers very flexible schedules. Campers have the option to enroll in two-week, four-week, six-week, or eight-week sessions. Depending on the program, they may also attend three or four days, instead of five, each week. Additional offerings at Park Shore include before and after care, hot lunch and transportation services.
