The Long Island Studio of Music to Offer Early Childhood Group Music Classes and At-Home Instruction

Music Play, the new early childhood group music class at The Long Island Studio of Music (LISM), is an innovative, fun music class for infants and children up to age five, taught by Katherine Vetter, an expert in early childhood music education. The class is a way to get children involved in music at an early age when they’re not yet ready for private instruction and instruments. Instead, children will be singing songs, tapping out rhythms, and playing with props to guide them through the music class.

This class will give young children a chance to express themselves through music, and give parents time with their child to enjoy the music and get them interested,” says Grimaldi Toohey, co-owner of The Long Island Studio of Music.

Music Play costs $200 for eight sessions and is offered on Saturdays from 9:30-10:15am through December 8. (no class Nov. 24).

LISM also offers instruments and voice lessons from the comfort of your own home throughout  all of Nassau and Suffolk county.

“We decided to start teaching music because it’s very important to us to meet the needs of high-caliber music education on Long Island, in the home, with a highly trained faculty., It’s more convenient for parents at home, especially in a home with multiple children” says Jennifer Barsamian, co-owner of Long Island Studio of Music.

Private music instruction helps to enhance the student’s music on a particular instrument and further develops their talents on their primary instrument. The median student age is 8-16, but ranges from five years old, depending on focus and ability, to adulthood.

LISM currently offers two recitals a year, one in early December and another in late June. The December recital is offered for three days and is held in various churches across Long Island. The June recital is held at Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center. Each student plays 1-2 pieces depending on length.
