5 Week Art & Theater Program June 24th thru July 26th Main Sessions 9am - 2pm Extended Day 2pm - 4pm Early Bird Discount until March 31st. SOCAT brings you a qualified, experienced teaching staff with fine-tuned knowledge, expert skills, and classroom professionalism in Theater, Music, Dance and Art that all adds up to a summer of fun. Students work in collaborative settings with a faculty comprised of NYS certified teachers who work in the arts and experienced NYC teaching artists. Our Musical Theater Workshop offers kids a unique experience to participate in all aspects of the theatrical experience. Working in small ensembles, students develop individual techniques in acting, movement, singing, set, and prop making. Under the skilled supervision of teaching faculty, and using the principles of story-theater and performance art, each age group develops a performance, which will be presented at the end of the 5-week session. Rather than choosing a few children to star in a few roles, the SOCAT’s process playfully challenges each member of the ensemble to be a star. Our Visual Art Studio includes work in 2D and 3D painting, drawing, and sculpture. Students are grouped appropriately by age and challenged to expand their individual creativity. At the conclusion of the session, students will display their artwork in an exhibit for family and friends. Extended Day gives students the opportunity to take a break from all their hard work and go for a supervised swim session at the South Orangetown Middle School pool. Sponsored by Andrew Jannetti & Dancers and administered by Alastair King, Eric Goldstein, and Allison Meyers, SOCAT consists of a musical theater program in which kids learn all aspects of developing and performing an original musical, and a visual arts program culminating in an art gallery exhibit.
