Gerber Issues Recall of Organic Food Pouches

Gerber Issues Recall of Organic Food Pouches

If you have purchased select varieties of Gerber Organic 2nd Foods Pouches recently, you need to pay attention to this.

Gerber issued a voluntary recall of certain organic pouches due to a packaging defect, resulting in product spoilage during transport and handling, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The baby foods in Pears, Carrots & Peas and Carrots, Apples and Mangoes with best-by dates of 12JUL2016, 13JUL2016, and 14JUL2016 have been affected. The 2nd Foods line is intended for infants.

Some kids who ate these pouches complained of feeling bloated and noticing that it had an “off taste or odor.” Three people have cited temporary gastrointestinal symptoms, though they were unable to confirm it was directly related to the Gerber Organic pouches.

The affected products were sold in stores nationwide and online. If you have purchased one of these batches, call the Gerber Parents Resource Center at 1-800-706-0556 for a replacement coupon.

“At Gerber, we place the health and well-being of babies above all else, and we hold our foods to high standards of quality,” Gerber said in a statement. “Gerber remains committed to providing high quality products and helping families nourish healthy children.”
