The Sports Place, a Blauvelt-based sports and special events venue, opened a new ice cream parlor called Toppings last month. Located on the lower level by the arcade, the parlor features its own enclosed seating area in a family-friendly atmosphere.
After extensive taste tests, Toppings decided to feature only Hershey's premium ice cream. It carries 28 flavors and about 120 different toppings (hence the parlor's name), which are mixed to order at the Creation Station. Visitors can sit down with a cone or get their sweets to go (in quart or half-gallon sizes).
The Sports Place now offers special packages that combine Toppings treats with other activities at the venue, such as miniature golf. For $11 per person, you can get a day of unlimited miniature golf at the Glo Putt and a double ice cream at Toppings, says Keith Phillips, general manager. A treat at Toppings can also be added to any of The Sports Place's birthday party packages, and, starting this month, the parlor will offer customized ice cream cakes.
