Check out these fun Halloween events for kids and families in Rockland County, NY, and Bergen County, NJ, including the annual Halloween Parade in Nyack and the popular Zoo Boo in Paramus.

 

Halloween seems to creep into stores earlier and earlier each year, but the time is finally here to celebrate this fun and irreverent holiday. Below are some cool and creepy events in the Rockland/Bergen area, and be sure to check out our roundup in Westchester, which includes the Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze and other Historic Hudson Valley events.

 

Halloween Spooktacular NJHalloween Spooktacular
New Jersey Children’s Museum, Paramus
Oct. 13-14, 16-21, 23-28, 30

The museum is totally transformed for festive Halloween celebration. Children can come in costume to trick-or-treat with costumed staff, decorate a pumpkin to take home, watch a Halloween puppet show, hear Halloween stories, and get their hands and face painted.

The littlest ghosts and ghouls can stop by the New Jersey Children’s Museum for a Halloween pizza party. The evening features dinner, dancing, trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting, face painting, and special visits from superheroes, princesses, and other favorite characters.

 

Zoo Boo
Bergen County Zoo, Paramus
Oct. 26-27

Come in costume to trick-or-treat in the zoo and check out a special holiday-themed magic show and storytelling. A haunted train ride, recommended for ages 6 and up, runs from 6:30-9:30pm ($5 per person). Advance ticket purchase is highly recommended.

Kids can listen to a reading of The Monsters’ Monster by Patrick McDonnell, enjoy Halloween treats, and take home a monster mask. FREE!

 

Nyack Halloween ParadeHalloween Parade
Main Street, Nyack
Oct. 27

Nyack’s popular parade features dancing ghouls, marching bands, stilt walkers, puppets, floats, and more. Festivities kick off at Memorial Park. FREE!

Oct. 27

Master illusionist David Caserta blends magic and comedy in a spooky show full of audience participation.

 

Holiday Craft Workshops
