Venue Description: Founded in 1959, the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum in Orange County is a nature museum with a focus on environmental education and a mission to develop responsible caretakers of the natural world. Over the years, the museum has developed quality educational programs for children, families, and adults that focus on the unique ecology of the Hudson Highlands. These programs feature a variety of weekly, seasonal, and special events that seek to involve participants with hands-on, interactive experiences. Programs focus on both plants and animals indigenous to the region.
The museum's Outdoor Discovery Center, located at 100 Muser Drive in Cornwall, houses the museum's Young Naturalist Pre-K program, administrative offices, Discovery Quest Trails (Open May - October), gift shop, summer camp, maple sugar tours, Nature Strollers, and weekend nature programs.
The Wildlife Education Center, located at 25 Boulevard in Cornwall-on-Hudson, houses the museum's live animal collection and another small gift shop. This facility runs birthday parties, a weekend Meet the Animals program, Discovering Animals Together activities, Spring Break Discovery Days, open holiday hours, and school trips. Short walking trails surround the facility. The Wildlife Education Center is open Friday-Sunday 12-4pm and admission is $3; free for children 3 and younger. For more information: hhnaturemuseum.org.
